Nominees and Winners 2004 Young Talent of the Year Award Recognizing an individual under the age of twenty whose work, voluntary or paid, serves as an example to the younger generations of the Hispanic community. Diego Marulanda / Pacandé *Winner Mapalé Santerías Plan C Audio Visual and Stage Production Award Recognizing production in the areas of film, video, new media and television as well as stage productions. Eligible candidates include directors, actors, festivals, multi-media productions, documentaries, stage productions, short films and television programs. Federico Hidalgo *Winner Mario Tenorio Manuel Rodríguez Jorge Lozano Visual Arts Award Recognizing an individual who has made outstanding contributions in the  visual arts. Eligible candidates include painters, photographers, and sculptors. Manuel Lau *Winner Miguel Juan Tomazo Gilda Pontbriand Rosa Guasch Vocal Artist of the Year Award Recognizing a vocal artist of the Latin American community of Canada, who has made important musical contributions. Carlos Cruz *Winner Jorge Eduardo Brito Jesus Rivera Lucho de Sedas Social Work Award Recognizing and individual or group, whose work has benefited the Hispanic community. Eligible candidates include social workers and community organizations. Ana Paredes *Winner Silvia Cayuqueo Gladys Irene Rothman Delia Rogge Hispanic-Canadian Relationship Award Recognizing an individual of the Hispanic community, who has experienced significant success within Canadian society. Eligible candidates include scientists, executives, investigators and professors. David Palmer *Winner Irma Paredes Cristian Castro Margarita de Antunano Hispanic Folklore Presence Award Recognizing a group or individual maintaining Hispanic folklore roots in Canada. Eligible artistic expressions include dance, music and traditional crafts. Marcelo Puente *Winner Rukanas Pablo Gutierrez Tonatiuh Media Personality of the Year Award Recognizing a member of the media whose work has raised awareness and addressed issues concerning the Hispanic community. Eligible candidates include reporters, columnists and radio and television personalities. Arturo Gutierrez *Winner Isabel Inclán Fabian Merlo Marta Pinzón Athletic Movement of the Year Award Recognizing an individual or group, who has successfully set a positive example for the Hispanic community, by sharing their passion of athletics with others. Includes athletes, trainers and volunteers. Basilio Adrián Elizondo *Winner Fernado Umbidez (Adrenalina Sports) Jimmy Felipe Barros Clavijo Miguel Franco Entrepreneur Award Recognizing an individual for his/her successful business venture, that shows leadership and innovation besides contributing to the development of the Hispanic community of Canada. Ignacio Musalem *Winner Eduardo Lulka Eddie Quindamo Javier Aizerstein Literary Award No award was presented in 2004 for this category due to an insufficient number of candidatures. Due to the outstanding quality of the literary works of two Hispanic-Canadian writers the Selection Committee decided to present them with an honorific mention. They are: The Hungarian-Argentinian Writer Pablo Urbanyi The Dominican Republic born Writer Nestor Rodriguez Canadian-Hispanic Relationship Award Alejandro Jadad Born in Colombia, this doctor of medicine became one of the top experts in the study of the coca plant and worked for the governments of Colombia and USA as a consultant. His career in Canada has been very succesful... Lifetime Achievement Award Luis Fornazzari Career neurologist with a world renown scientific body of work in behavioral neurology, is founder of the multicultural memory clinic affiliated to the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health in Toronto.
